The artist Dora Mai will be a guest at the Kulturankerzentrum F23 in Vienna in July 2025 as part of the Summer Residency. In the werk.statt, she will focus on large-format works from her series STILL IN LOVE, in which she draws on personal memories and artistically develops photographic finds from her archive. werk.statt widmet sie sich großformatigen Arbeiten ihrer Serie STILL IN LOVE, in der sie persönliche Erinnerungen aufgreift und fotografische Fundstücke aus ihrem Archiv künstlerisch weiterentwickelt.
The starting point is motifs from old family photo albums, which she scales, combines, and reinterprets through painting. The works express a sensual engagement with intimacy, distance, transience, and memory. Emotions such as affection, security, and wistfulness shape the visual language and lend the pieces emotional depth.
The entire creative process will be accompanied and documented by Timelapse Systems using a time-lapse camera. On Friday, July 11, 2025, the resulting works will be presented to the public starting at 6 PM. Art historian Dr. Renée Gadsden will give an introductory talk, opening an evening full of insight into Dora Mai’s poetic world of memory.
