The Jesuit Refectory at Graz’s Rosenhain has been completed and now shines in new splendor following extensive revitalization. The historic building from the 17th century, which is under monument protection, was carefully renovated by the University of Graz in collaboration with GBG Gebäude- und Baumanagement Graz GmbH.

Today, it houses the Institute for Movement Sciences, Sport, and Health, offering students and researchers modern facilities starting from the winter semester 2025/2026. With a usable area of around 1,300 square meters, the building provides space for research, teaching, and training in close proximity to the existing University Sports Center as well as the Diagnostics and Training Center on Aigner-Rollett-Allee. The investment volume of around 13 million euros underscores the importance of this project, which combines historic substance with modern architecture and sustainable technology.

The former Jesuit Refectory was used in the 17th century by the Jesuits as a summer residence. During the revitalization, the historic character of the building was preserved while it was simultaneously transformed into a modern educational site.

Timelapse Systems documented the construction process with a time-lapse film, which impressively captures the elaborate work and careful redesign.
