On September 6, Sports City Councillor Peter Hacker officially inaugurated the new Sport Arena Wien, the flagship project of Vienna’s sports facilities initiative – the city’s long-term strategy to modernize its sports infrastructure. By 2030, the city will invest around 400 million euros.

After the deconstruction of the aging Ferry Dusika Stadium, an innovative new facility was built on the same site, with planning and construction taking over four years. The total investment amounted to 133 million euros. The new arena offers three independently usable sports areas, a total of 13,000 m² of space, and seating for around 3,000 spectators. It provides optimal conditions for a wide range of sports and user groups – from schools and clubs to national and international competitions.

The team from Timelapse Systems documented the construction process from the initial demolition work to completion with high-resolution drone footage and extensive time-lapse recordings – creating a visual chronicle of this pioneering Viennese infrastructure project.
