Inside the newly opened Sport Arena Vienna, a large-scale mural is currently taking shape, a process we are documenting with the camera. Titled ‘BODY IN MOTION,’ the artist Dora Mai depicts a body growing from a moment of stillness into a palpable movement.

For four years, we documented the construction of the Sport Arena Vienna with time-lapse and drone footage, capturing the transformation from the first foundations to the opening. With Dora Mai’s mural, we continue this cinematic documentation in the heart of the arena, also capturing the design of the interior spaces in expressive visual sequences.

Particularly impressive is the artistic method: layer by layer, in vibrant shades of dispersion paint, the artist creates a work full of dynamism and intensity. The movement unfolds gradually – from a pause, through the first impulse, to a dynamic run. It gives the impression that the body is shedding the weight of stillness and transforming its movement into an expression of vibrant energy, inner freedom, and joy of life. In this way, not only art is created, but also the spirit of the Sport Arena becomes visible.

The mural thus unfolds not only an intense energy and expressiveness, but also thematizes the moment of transformation – from stillness to departure, from inner tension to action. Our time-lapse film makes this process particularly visible: from the first brushstrokes emerges an image that conveys the joy and lightness of movement while simultaneously harmonizing with the architecture of the arena.
